🎮Lumi Nova – A game that helps with worries (Ages 7–12)

What is it?🌟

Lumi Nova is an immersive mobile game where you go on quests and learn real-life skills for handling worries.

With Lumi Nova, you can go at your own speed 💛

🧘 Calming skills – help your body feel calm
🗺️ Brave quests – try small brave things
🧩 Practice at home – use what you learn every day
⭐ Build confidence – feel proud and more confident

Who is it for?

It’s usually for children aged 7–12 who have worries such as:

  • Feeling nervous, panicky, or “on edge”
  • Fears and phobias (like being sick, insects, sleeping alone, etc.)
  • School worries or social worries
  • Big feelings that are hard to manage

How does it help?

It teaches skills from CBT (a proven approach for anxiety) in a fun, game-like way.

  • Spot worry thoughts
  • Try calm breathing
  • Take tiny brave steps

What you’ll do

You’ll complete quests like:

  • Drawing or imagining safe/strong moments
  • Watching short videos to prepare
  • Practising bravery in real life (with help)

Good to know

Lumi Nova is for mild to moderate worries.

You can still ask for other help too.

How to get access (Devon)

Families in Devon can access Lumi Nova online without a prescription or referral, using the self sign-up hub.

Works on iOS and Android, including support for older devices (to help more families get access).

Lumi Nova is an NHS-commissioned, NICE-recommended therapeutic mobile game that uses CBT principles and is designed to support children aged 7–12 with anxiety.

It’s been used in Devon to improve access to early intervention support.

  • Children can use it at their own pace, at home.
  • Best for mild to moderate anxiety/worries (not a replacement for specialist support when needed).
  • If you have safeguarding concerns, severe symptoms, or a child in crisis, seek urgent help via 999/111 or professional support.

When to get urgent help

If a child is in danger, talking about hurting themselves, or you’re very worried about safety:

  • Call 999 in an emergency
  • Or contact NHS 111
  • Or speak to school / your GP practice
