Did you know that some areas across Devon offer a self-referral service for certain specialties? This means you can make an appointment to see an NHS specialist without having to see a doctor first.

Please see below some services available to self-refer.

Musculoskeletal / Physiotherapy

Self-refer to Musculoskeletal/Physiotherapy

You can refer yourself to MSK physiotherapy without the need to see another healthcare professional first.

You can do this in one of two ways:
1) By calling the appointments booking line on 0300 456 9987 open from 08:30 – 12:30, Monday to Friday
2) Or via the online Patients Know Best self-referral service: bit.ly/MSK-Physio-PKB

Mental Health

Self-refer to Mental Health

TALKWORKS is a free, confidential, NHS talking therapy service, for people (aged 18+) who are seeking help and support about their mental health.

TALKWORKS Torquay team is located at Petitor House on Nicholson Road, which is close to The Willows Retail Park.

Pharmacy First Service

From the 31st of January 2024, your local pharmacists can treat you for seven common conditions without you needing to visit your GP.

Under the NHS Pharmacy First Service you can be treated for urine infection, sinusitis, ear infection, impetigo, sore throat, shingles, and infected insect bite. The highly qualified pharmacists can provide over the counter or prescription treatment for these conditions.
