Please read this information carefully as it relates to upcoming changes to our appointment system
From the 19th July 2023 we are introducing a new appointment system at Compass House Medical Centres. The new system is called “Klinik” and is designed to ensure you have the right consultation, or support from the most appropriate healthcare professional in an efficient way and to make it easier for you to contact us.
To accommodate this change we will be turning off the current “Contact us” online function on our website from the 7th July to enable us to process the remaining workload from this service.
What does this mean?
All patient requests will go through the KLINIK system. Whether you go online, visit the practice, or call you will be asked the same questions to assess your medical need. This is then assessed by a clinician and patients will be given an appointment based on their medical need rather than a first come first served basis, reducing the 8am rush for appointments.
This will improve patient outcomes and care as decision making on appointment priority will have been made by an appropriately trained clinician, ensuring patient safety is at the forefront of what we do.
Why are we making this change?
Over the last few years demand for services has significantly increased. Our previous system of dealing with all patients on the day can no longer cope with the volume of requests we receive. Our clinicians are struggling, and we know from your feedback that patient satisfaction in our service has reduced.
In the UK there is a national shortage of GPs and Healthcare staff, and like many other places recruitment remains challenging. We have a wide range of highly skilled healthcare professionals and we need to utilise their skillsets to see patients as efficiently and safely as possible.
This change will make better use of our GP’s time and will also make life easier for those accessing our services, with improved continuity and the option for more pre-bookable appointments.
We need this system to help us, help you get the care you need.
What else is changing?
We have reviewed some of our current processes within the Practice to make them more patient friendly. As a result we will also be changing how patients are assessed for Urinary Tract Infections (UTI’s).
From the 19th July patients will no longer be able to drop urine samples down to the Practice without going through the KLINIK – Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) system first. This will enable the clinical team to assess patients and offer treatment based on the latest guidelines, making it safer and easier for patients, only taking urine samples when a clinician deems it necessary.
We have researched the KLINIK system and spoken to many practices that have implemented it already. Feedback from both patients and clinicians is very positive, but we know sometimes change can cause concern. To help answer some commons questions we have put together the attached KLINIK system frequently asked questions (FAQ’s) document.
Thank you for your support and patience as we move to this new model.
