Many medicines for minor ailments can be bought at low cost over the counter at your local pharmacy. Most are open late nights, weekends and no appointment is needed.
Before you make an appointment to see your Doctor think “Could I treat this myself at my local pharmacy?”
When you request to get paracetamol ‘free’ from the GP it actually costs the NHS about £10.
This is why we do not routinely prescribe paracetamol and other over the counter medicines in this practice.
