Patient participation is a unique partnership between patients, GPs and their practice which is essential to and results in high quality and responsive care.
Patient Participation Groups (PPGs) work in partnership with their practices to:
• Help patients to take more responsibility for their health
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of services and quality of care
• Improve communication between the practice and its patients
• Provide practical support for the practice and help to implement change
• Fundraising eg
• Help with patient events such as flu clinics.
Compass House Medical Centres PPG was re-formed in Summer 2018 and currently has over 130 patients as part of this group. They are always seeking new members, whether face-to-face or virtual. We are particularly keen to involve younger people to identify and resolve health concerns that are relevant to this group. If you would like to get involved and keep up to date with practice and PPG activities, please email compasshouse.ppg@nhs.net
Our face-to-face group works in partnership with the GP’s and practice staff and meet regularly at the Galmpton surgery to discuss ideas on how to improve services and get valuable feedback from our patients. Examples of what the group has achieved over the years includes designing and creating a patient leaflet, helped organise and ran a Galmpton tea party, they represent our Patients at Devon-wide events and have supported the practice with reducing the number of patients that do not attend appointments.
Being a member of the PPG does not involve a major commitment just an interest in being involved in helping maintain the various healthcare services of the practice. Occasional emails are sent to the virtual group typically covering general healthcare information, patient surveys, newsletters and Practice and PPG initiatives.
“If you are keen to become involved in helping to improve your healthcare and that of others and knowing more about how Compass House Medical Centres can help you and your family, we would be very interested in working with you through the Patient Participation Group.
If you are a young person who feels that your voice is not being heard or your health concerns are not being addressed, now is the time to talk to us, directly or via social media.
We look forward to you joining us and ensuring Compass House continues to offer the best service possible.” Kathleen Lund, Chair PPG
