We have been working really hard to vaccinate all our patients across Torbay in cohorts 1-4, which includes residents in Care Homes, front line health and social care workers, those that are clinically extremely vulnerable (shielding) and those aged 70+.
We are undertaking a huge push over this week to ensure we have offered all patients in these cohorts an appointment by 15th February and are working in partnership with the Horizon Centre at Torbay Hospital to make this happen.
If you are in cohorts 1-4 and not yet been offered an appointment, you will be called in the next few days and booked into either the Riviera Centre or the Horizon Centre at Torbay Hospital for your vaccination.
Please do not contact your GP practice about an appointment, we will contact you.
Our teams are all busy making these outbound calls to book appointments on top of answering our usual high call volumes to deal with our practice work.
To ensure we can offer all these appointments by 15th February we have increased our capacity at the Riviera Centre so we are now vaccinating 1,400 patients a day.
We have also visited all our Care Homes, vaccinating the majority of our Care Home patients and staff and well over half of our bedbound patients across Torbay, aiming to have been out to all our bedbound patients by the end of next week.
This means that by next week we will start inviting those patients in cohort 5 for their vaccine, which is patients aged 65+.
We thank you for your patience and understanding at this time whilst our teams continue to work really hard to book the COVID vaccination appointments and work at the Vaccination Centre, alongside our usual practice workload at this time of year.
